About Noel Hansen

Noel Gregory Hansen lived in Maryborough for all of his life, until his passing at age 65. Noel was passionate about timber and for 40+ years was involved in woodchopping and chainsaw events at the Fraser Coast Agricultural Show - as a participant and a steward.

In the late 90's, in particular, he was well known as a Chainsaw Steward and for the chainsaw racing he loved. Noel also travelled with his passion and competed at other Agricultural shows.

Noel's love for working with timber was also a part of his working life as a fencing contractor.

Noel also supported the Torbanlea Races being involved with the planning and management of their woodchopping events.

(Council thanks the Hansen family for providing photos and information about Noel for this consultation).

Please note this consultation has now closed (8/4/21) - Council is now reviewing the community's feedback and will compile a report to go to the next Council Meeting. Council will update stakeholders once the report has gone to Council. Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this consultation.

Council resolved to name the Maryborough Showgrounds Woodchop Arena after Noel Hansen at the April General Meeting 2021.

The arena will be formally named the "Noel Hansen Arena".

Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback during the consultation process.
