  • Have your say on proposed Burrum River Speed Change

    The community is being encouraged to have a say on proposed changes to management of watercraft on the Burrum River between Weir 1 and Weir 2.

    Council is open to exploring ways to manage watercraft which are currently impacting our drinking water catchment on the Burrum River, as part of the implementation of the Drinking Water Catchment Management Strategy, adopted by Council in 2023. One of the options is to reduce the maximum speed of watercraft to 6 knots, which is the same as Lake Lenthall, and many other waterways in Queensland.
