Fraser Coast Organics Waste Collection

Project Overview

Fraser Coast Waste is investigating community desire for an organic waste collection service.

Organic material makes up about half of what we throw away in our general waste wheelie bin each week. When it breaks down, it releases methane, a harmful greenhouse gas.

We sought feedback from our community via a simple online survey which has now closed. Your feedback will be included in a business case developed by the Fraser Coast Waste team for the service.

What is organics waste?

What is organics waste?

Collection of and recycling of green waste, food waste and other organic streams that can be composted and used for local agriculture supports Council’s target to attain 30 per cent diversion of waste away from landfill by 2030. Household waste represents more than 43 per cent of waste received at Council facilities. For other frequently asked questions, download our FAQs here.
