  • Hervey Bay pump track now ready to ride

A new pump track in Hervey Bay’s Fraser Coast Park is now ready to ride, allowing BMX riders, skaters, and scooter riders of all ages and abilities to test their skills.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour officially opened the new track on Friday afternoon, alongside Member for Hervey Bay Adrian Tantari.

Cr Seymour said the grand opening featured demonstrations from the Maryborough BMX Club and a skills clinic led by BIKETA and local world champion BMX rider Teya Rufus.

“This was an exciting milestone for Hervey Bay, bringing not only thrilling opportunities for all levels of riders but also attracting world-class talent like Teya to the track,” he said.

The new track accommodates beginners, intermediate, and experienced users, with advanced riders able to enjoy corners, jumps, and other challenging features.

Floodlights operate from dusk to 8:00 pm Monday to Thursday and dusk to 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

CCTV has also been installed for added safety, and public toilets will be installed over the next few months.

Member for Hervey Bay Adrian Tantari said the Miles Government had provided a $1.3 million grant to Council through the Works for Queensland programme to design and build the pump tracks in Hervey Bay and Maryborough.

“This new pump track is a great investment for our community and will encourage more people to be outside, stay healthy and enjoy our great city.

“With the Olympics on now, cycling sports are well and truly front and center. It all starts somewhere, and a state-of-the-art pump track will inspire the next generation to give cycling sports a go and maybe even ignite the passion of a future champion.”

Cr Seymour thanked the Queensland Government for providing funding for Hervey Bay’s first pump track and now invites residents to come out and test their skills at Council's newest free facility.

The opening of this pump track follows the opening of pump tracks in Maryborough and Tiaro last year.
