Fraser Coast Regional Council has adopted a new five-year Corporate Plan to guide how it will deliver community services and infrastructure while protecting the region’s unique natural environment and lifestyle.
Mayor George Seymour said the Corporate Plan was Council’s main strategic planning and visionary document that was developed following extensive staff and community consultation over the past nine months.
“Our vision of building better communities together is the foundation stone of our new 2023-2028 Corporate Plan. It will underpin everything we do as a Council, ensuring our region and its communities continue to flourish,” he said.
“We will work with Council staff and the broader community to make sure we get it right, balancing our current needs with the needs of the future.”
The 2023-28 Corporate Plan is centred on five focus areas:
The plan also outlines four organisational priorities for Council:
Cr Seymour said the Corporate Plan set out a series of objectives, deliverables, and performance indicators for each of the five focus areas, and would be regularly reviewed and monitored over the next five years.
“The plan outlines dozens of deliverables, such as a parks study to ensure equitable access to parks and amenities, developing a forward design program for shovel-ready infrastructure projects and increasing the number of services offered outside business hours,” he said.
“We thank all those within the community and Council who helped develop this plan.
“We are confident that our shared vision and strong strategic direction will guide us to serve the community to the very best of our abilities. Together we will continue to ensure the Fraser Coast is a great place to visit and an even better place to live.”

Thank you to those who responded to our feedback survey to help us build a meaningful Corporate Plan.
We had 448 responses as well as three personal submissions to the survey.
We will immediately begin the task of collating the data and analysing the comments to prepare the Community Engagement Feedback report for the project team.
The majority of respondents mentiond the environment, the local climate, sense of community and family as what makes the Fraser Coast special to them. We love those things, too!
A draft of the new Corporate Plan will be presented mid-2023.
Help shape the future Fraser Coast
Fraser Coast residents are being encouraged to help shape Council’s direction and a shared vision for the region’s future.
Mayor George Seymour said Council was developing a new Corporate Plan and wanted to understand the values and priorities of the community.
“Our region is changing and growing, and Council plays an essential role in enhancing our lifestyle and economy while preserving the unique natural environment that makes the Fraser Coast so remarkable,” he said.
“We want to build better communities together, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to have a say on where we head in the future.”
Cr Seymour said a web page about the new Corporate Plan had been set up on Council’s Engagement Hub at https://frasercoast.engagementhub.com.au/renewed-corporate-plan with a fact sheet, FAQs and a link to an online survey for residents to fill out.
Survey participants will also have a chance to win a $100 Buy Local gift card, with 10 up for grabs.
“Our Corporate Plan is our main strategic planning and visionary document. It charts the path forward for Council and guides how we deliver quality services to the community,” Cr Seymour said.
“The results of the community survey will provide a starting point as we develop Council’s renewed Corporate Plan.”
The survey is open now and closes on 30 October 2022.
