Glenwood Community Space Master Plan

Engagement Summary OCT 23

A comprehensive community engagement process was undertaken from August – October 2023 to assist in master planning the community space land within Glenwood. Council is now seeking comment on the Draft Master Plan.

Following the completion of the engagement process a full engagement report will be provided to Council and will be made public at this time.

A summary of the findings in the meantime is outlined below.

With the outcomes in mind a draft Master Plan has been prepared - please see Draft Master Plan section – including key elements.

In relation to the community space land the most common comments related to:

  • The need for sporting facilities, examples of pump track, rage cage, skate park, football fields and exercise equipment;
  • Outdoor facilities such as a BBQ area, shade or gazebo and community garden;
  • Children’s playground/ youth space;
  • Improved active transport facilities such as a walking trail, cycling track, bridge to Varley Road property, community bus etc;
  • Educational facilities to both inform and protect wildlife and take action for flood mitigation etc.

The  top  3  priorities  were  enough  public  toilets  and  they  are  maintained;  community  space  is maintained and well looked after and enough play and recreational areas for young people.

In relation to the Community Hall the most common comments related to:-

  • Specialist activity-related services such as exercise classes, other health related workshops and services, art classes, after school care etc;
  • Events such as weddings, parties, concerts, balls and movie nights etc;
  • Commercial  uses  such  as an  op-shop,  professional  services  (medical,  counselling)  cafes  and restaurant etc; and
  • Government and disaster related services such as an evacuation centre, library, information centre and WIFI etc.

The  top  3  priorities  were  enough  public  toilets  and  they  are  maintained;  the  community  hall  is maintained and well looked after; and there is enough space/rooms in the hall for community use.
