Thank you for your feedback on ESA Park playground equipment.
The concept that was most popular was the Beach theme. This has been installed at the park.
The Gables and ESA Park is located on the Esplanade between Aplin and Flinders Streets, Point Vernon. Esa Park provides playground, BBQ and toilet facilities - with easy access to the beach and tidal rock pools.
The playground is a popular park for family gatherings and children's parties - as parents and grandparents can relax as their children play.
The existing playground was built several years ago and due to its popularity and exposed site it now requires an upgrade.
As part of the playground upgrade a portion of the infrastructure will be removed and replaced with new equipment.
Council is seeking feedback from the community on the new equipment - we want you to help us choose the equipment that you/ your children/ grandchildren - would like to play on. We have two design options for the community to choose from.
To have your say click on the survey link in the Current Projects section. The survey closes Friday 7 January 2022 - 11:55pm.
To review the designs in full - please see the Document Library.
Thankyou to our local residents for your feedback on the draft designs for the three car parks for Anzac Park. Based on this feedback, we considered an alternative carpark to the location 1.2 option (on Cheapside Street), to be located off Alice Street beside the tennis courts.
Unfortunately, Department of Transport has not approved this option, so Council is further modifying 1.2 location option 3. The key considerations being adapted in the modified design proposal are for landscaping architecture to provide:
We will start works on these carparks early in 2022 and be complete by June 2022.
The play equipment that is in good condition and that will remain includes - the shade structures, climbing net and navigator twirler.
It is planned to replace the swing set, rockers, play panels and the early childhood small combo play unit and slide.
ESA Park is a culturally significant site that also features turtle friendly lighting to protect the small but established turtle rookery adjacent to the park. Turtles are attracted by light, so to avoid having baby turtles head towards the playground instead of the ocean, these specially designed lights shine a warm beam that is sheltered from the beach.
